Banaag Diwa
I have been in circulation of student publication since elementary. I once head the publication when i was in highschool(yet i felt too incompetent), and in college, publication changed my life.
it was an ordeal of torment and pain that i could not forget. face to face critiques and weird people that surrounds you…everything was a mess. but being in the publication, it means everything is in order.
i wrote dozens of articles, and loads of comic strips, and yes i am responsible for the chaotic Baryo Tinyo themes after every student summits and SAMAHAN elections. not to mention some ROTC rifts. there is humor in everything, i might say.
but what i loved most was writing for the literary folios of ATENEWS, which is called BANAAG DIWA. I wrote poetries there, for love, for society, for life and even for death. I penned stuffs, not under my name… of course every writer has their own pseudonym. and nope, im still not going to reveal it.
i cherish everything with the memories of the ATENEWS… The official STUDENT publication of Ateneo de Davao University…and yes they called us REDS… but we are not…we are more than reds… Beng and other unstrung heroes died because ATENEWS believed in FREEDOM.
From TUITION FEE INCREASE(TFI) to Collective Baraining Agreement(CBA) we dealt with it, to the OSA’s weird and wild rules, we tackled them UNBIASED. The only leaning we have is the TRUTH. Gone are the days…but i’m still gona live with what is left of the memories.
END THE SILENCE OF THE GAGGED!
